Frequently asked questions

Do you offer Free Estimates?

We do offer Free Estimates for potential customers inside of our service area. We currently offer Free Estimates in the following areas: Athens-Clarke County and Oconee County. We also offer Free Estimates to customers in subdivisions in which we’re already servicing. If you’re unsure if you qualify for a free estimate, give us a call or contact us via this website.

For potential customers outside of our service areas, we ask for a $150 estimate fee to cover the cost of time and travel for our estimators. If you elect to move forward with your project, we will apply that $150 as a down payment and reduce that from your total project cost.

Will you deliver material to me?

Unfortunately, we do not retail and deliver material - sod, stone, mulch, etc. We will source material and install it at your property as part of your project, but we do not provide material as a stand alone offering. You will want to contact a plant nursery or landscape supply company for material needs greater than your local convenient/hardware store can provide.

Do you service irrigation systems?

For new customers - We only install new irrigation systems. We simply do not have the bandwidth to perform existing irrigation service calls (especially in the warmer months).

For existing Lawn Maintenance Customers - We can check your irrigation system if there is a problem and repair damage that may have been caused by mechanical damage from our lawn maintenance serivces. These repairs are scheduled between project work, and wait times vary depening on project lead times.

How often should I water my newly installed plants?

There are many variables that can dictate how much/often you should water your plants. Of course, dryer and warmer weather will require more attention to maintaining proper moisture levels for your plants. The goal in watering your plants is to ensure that that the plant roots and surrounding area are completely saturated but not drowning. Plant roots need air as well as water, but they can’t access air if their roots are sitting in a pool of water. As a general rule for Northeast Georgia, we recommend the following watering schedules:

Sod Watering Schedule:
Weeks 1-2: Water daily in 1 hour increments
Weeks 3-4: Water 5 days/week in 1 hour increments
Weeks 5+: Water 3-4 days/week in 1 hour increments and as needed

Tree Watering Schedule:
Weeks 1-2: Water daily with 3-5 gallons/tree
Weeks 3-4: Water 3-4 days/week with 3-5 gallons/tree
Weeks 5+: Water 2-3 days/week with 1-3 gallons/tree and as needed

Why do I still have weeds in my flower beds after service?

For customers that receive chemical treatments to remove weeds from their flower beds - it is common for the crew to spray and finish their visit with weeds still present. This is due to the time it takes for the chemical to affect the weed(s). Usually, we see weeds will perish within 1-2 weeks after their initial spray. Please note - Bi-weekly service clients will experience overlap of old weeds dying and new weeds sprouting between visits. We recommend upgrading to Weekly servicing for more comprehensive weed control.

For new customers receiving turf treatments - It may take some time to fully eliminate weeds from your lawn. Different species of weed are affected by different treatments. Our turf program offers 7 treatments annually that include two (2) pre-emergent treatments, two (2) post-emergent treatments, two (2) fertilizer applications, and one (1) lime application. These treatments are applied at strategic times of the year for the most impact on undesirables while keeping your lawn as healthy as possible!

How long are your wait times for Landscaping projects?

This is a tough question to answer, because there are multiple factors that affect wait times. Generally, our wait times are longer in the spring/summer months and can range from 4-12 weeks depending on availability of materials and the projects currently scheduled in front of your project. Materials can be a big factor, as many plant nurseries will not ship plants when the weather is too hot as they cannot guarantee the plants will survive the delivery. We are also still experiencing supply chain issues for materials such as stone and gravel, however impact from this has been minimal outside of the summer months.

During the fall/winter months, our availability opens up as dormant plants/turf require a lot less maintenance, and material is more readily available for quick delivery. Because of this, we may recommend that your project be scheduled during this time.

Some projects require the cooperation of the weather, which can be extremely unpredictable (especially in the busy months). For projects that do not require the cooperation of the weather, we usually try to give them more priority when there is rain in the forecast, so we occasionally are able to get to some projects much faster than originally expected.

I’m having a hard time visualizing my project, do you provide drawings of your plans?

We understand that it can be difficult picturing how your landscape project will change your property. We do provide an option to receive a Landscape Architect Design at an additional cost, which will show you a visualization of exactly how your project will look at your property. *Note - Design plans usually exceed $1,000.

Usually, most customers choose to participate in a walkthrough with the estimator and finalize placements before the start of the project with spray paint outlines to help save on costs.

Do you bag leaves during the Fall/Winter months?

We do not bag and remove leaves as part of our maintenance package. Instead, we mulch leaves and spread them across the lawn. There's a good reason for this - NUTRIENTS! Think of leaves as a natural fertilizer because they release nutrients into the soil as they decompose. Naturally, waiting for leaves to decompose in a well manicured lawn is not ideal as it is an eye-sore with a lengthy decomposition life cycle.

By mulching the leaves, we accelerate the decomposition process by chopping leaves into tiny pieces and build a fresh layer of top soil! Once the growing season starts, your lawn will appreciate the boost in nutrients!
